27 – To Grant A Starry Wish
Ringo and Kaede are intently watching the television so Kazuomi asked what they are watching. It turned out to be Sweet Cooking Hour wherein Mr. Shiroyama, Ayanna’s dad, was a guest. Kazuomi felt uneasy when he saw him. Shiroyama was telling the audience about how to clean the rice for the dish but things got out of hand since he wanted to do things his way and not as what was in the program. Mahito wanted to help but was shoved away by Shiroyama.
Ringo was
furious by what happened and Mahito looked downcast. Kazuomi closed the
television. Ringo asked why he did that. Kazuomi answered that it was because he
is still angry for what Mahito did – betraying ‘Happy Cooking Hour’ Ringo
explained that it was not Mahito’s fault but the producer’s. She was angry
at Kazuomi for saying bad things about Mahito. Kaede decided to leave as Kazuomi
try to pacify Ringo by asking what they should cook for the next show. Ringo
forgot about it and try to think about a good recipe. She thought that
Shiroyama’s idea about eating something Japanese is good. Kazuomi suggested
about something which will match the season – July 7th – Tanabata,
Star Festival. Ringo suddenly, remembered something. Kazuomi asked what it was
but Ringo told him it was nothing. She told herself that she almost forgot
Mahito’s birthday which also falls on the July 7th.

originated more than 2000 years ago with an old Chinese tale called Kikkoden.
Once there was a weaver princess named Orihime and a cow herder prince named
Hikoboshi living in space. After they got together, they were playing all the
time and forgot their jobs. The king was angry at them and separated them on
opposite sides of the Amanogawa River (Milky Way). The king allowed them to meet
only once a year on July 7th. This is why Tanabata is also called the Star
Festival. People say that Orihime and Hikoboshi can't meet each other
if July 7th is rainy, so they pray for good weather and also make wishes for
themselves. People prepare a bamboo tree and put ornaments, talismans and narrow
strips of colored paper with their wishes written.
Mahito was looking at a poster of Happy Cooking hour. He told himself that it was good that Kazuomi had replaced him. He smiled to himself for now, he knew who taught Ringo how to cook. The agent asked him how was his new apartment. Mahito said that he is almost finished moving. The agent warned him about letting others know about his apartment like what happened with Ringo and not to give anyone about his new phone number. The agent’s cellphone rang so he told Mahito to go ahead. Mahito was about to leave when he heard the agent had a spy inside the staff of Happy Cooking Hour. They planned to steal the new recipe of Ringo. Mahito was shocked.
Ringo’s father had a gift for her. It was a bamboo tree to hang the wishes. Her father asked what will she wish for. She told him it was a secret but it really was to see Mahito. In her room, she really misses Mahito and wanted to greet him a happy birthday so she decided to call him. She learned that the phone was already disconnected and that Mahito had already moved. Ringo was sad that now, she really have no relation whatsoever with Mahito.
In school, the
girls are going crazy over Kazuomi as he plays basketball. Ringo was shoved by
the girls and Ayanna angrily shouted that everyone notices Kazuomi since he was
in tv now. Ringo asked her if Mahito is okay. Ayanna asked if she likes Mahito.
Ringo denied it and told her that she is just asking how he is. Ayanna giggled
that they [Ringo and Mahito] weren’t working together so she cannot see him
anymore. Ayanna told her that they will have a birthday party after the program
and Ringo is not invited. Ayanna gave Kazuomi a flying kiss for she is going to
have a taping. Ringo was sad when she heard that.
In the program, their theme is about the Tanabata so they decided to make some sweets – glutinous rice balls with fruits. On July 7th, Ringo was looking out the night sky from the balcony as she wondered if Orihime and Hikoboshi have already met. Then, she saw Mahito standing below. Mahito gestured for her to get her cellphone. Ringo immediately went in to answer her phone.
She looked at him from her room as they talked. Ringo told him that she tried calling him. Mahito told her that he had already moved and that he wanted to apologize because her recipe for the show has been stolen/copied. Mahito added that he really didn’t know that this kind was being done. Ringo assured Mahito that she trusts him and thank him for worry about ‘Happy Cooking Hour’. Mahito advised Ringo to be careful next time and that even though Kazuomi told him not to bother her again, he felt happy to see her again. He bid her goodbye since he had sneak out of the program. Ringo thanked him and suddenly remembered that she forgot to say something to him. She quickly went to the balcony and shouted, Happy Birthday to him. He thanked her by a wave of his hand. Ringo happily looked at the stars which granted her wish.
Meanwhile, Ayanna was furious that the birthday celebrant was nowhere to be found. The agent was said to himself that this program causes him much worry.
