26 – The Two of Us Having Tea
Kazuomi
thought that he is going to throw his image away so that he can help Ringo in
her program. Ringo went to the room, telling him that the origin of red tea,
Chinese tea and green tea is the same. Kazuomi told her that he already knew
that and told her that they differ from each other through the process how they
were made. Ringo told him that the topic for their show will be ‘A Good Way of
Making Delicious Red Tea’ Kazuomi snapped out of his daze when Ringo told him
that he have to think of a dish that would best accompany the red tea.
Kazuomi was a bit nervous and didn’t know if his appearance at the show would actually help the ratings. Ringo encouraged him that he would do fine and that boys are usually good cooks so she wanted to make others know of Kazuomi’s great cooking skills. Kazuomi blushed and opened the television to watch something so that they can relax. Much to Kazuomi’s shock, it was Ayanna and Mahito’s cooking show.
Kazuomi
wanted to change the channel but Ringo told him that she wanted to watch it
since it might help improve their program. Kazuomi looked downcast as Ringo
continued to watch. Ayanna and Mahito were promoting a French restaurant. Ayanna
ordered a special fish sauce with truffles and goose liver. Kazuomi and Ringo
sweatdropped since it wasn’t the kind of food a high schooler would order.
Kazuomi patted Ringo’s head and told her that they will not lose to them.
After the
program, Ayanna was complaining over the dress she wore and she was overheard by
one of the staff. She immediately excused herself. Mahito heard the staff people
talking about Ayanna being a spoiled rich girl. Mahito defended her so the staff
apologized. Mahito’s agent told Mahito not to intrude with Ayanna’s life and
that just, Mahito being in the show can already give a tight competition for
Ringo’s show. Mahito whispered that it would have been better if he had stayed
with Ringo. When the agent asked what he said, he told him it was nothing.
Mahito remembered Ringo’s crying face and he looked downcast.
At the
set, Kazuomi was very nervous as Ringo’s parents and his mother are telling
him that they are all depending on him. Even Watanabe was a bit nervous about
it. Ringo arrived and fixed Kazuomi’s tie. Kazuomi told her again that he is
not sure if he can help. Ringo asked for Kazuomi’s hands and while holding it,
she asked him if he remembered when the show first started, they held hands and
Kazuomi lent his strength to her so that she can cook. Ringo said that it is
like before and that he should just happily do the show. It had made Kazuomi a
bit confident.
The
‘live’ show had started and Ringo introduced Kazuomi as her childhood friend
and classmate. At the backstage, Kaede was very tense since Kazuomi was a bit
stiff and was not smiling at all. Ringo then told everyone that Kazuomi was the
one who taught her how to cook. Watching from her home, Ayanna was shocked for
Kazuomi can cook. She told herself that whatever Kazuomi cooked, she would
definitely eat it.
Kazuomi
said that he would make shortbread, which is a nice accompaniment for red tea.
He was so nervous that he almost bumped the bowl. Ringo helped him and held his
hands behind the counter to calm Kazuomi and remind him that there is no problem
for she is with him. Kazuomi got himself calmed down and started making the
shortbread. After shaping it into a huge circle, Kazuomi asked for cookie
cutters so that the remaining dough can be also used.
Kazuomi was about to make the red tea but Ringo said that she would do it. Kazuomi told her and the audience some tips to make it more delicious. Kazuomi had to comment that compared with goose liver and truffles, red tea and shortbread would taste better. Ayanna groans for it was an answer back to their show. While Kazuomi and Ringo were having tea, the staff commented that both Kazuomi and Ringo seemed to have a good understanding of each other. From the start, they looked good together. Watanabe thought that when Ringo was with Mahito, was she faking it?
After the show, Ringo gave Kazuomi a hug and told him she was very happy.
Kazuomi was glad that Ringo is smiling again but there is one thing he dreads
--- school.
On the
way to school, Kazuomi was thinking that everyone would be laughing at him but
it turned out everyone thought he was great. Kazuomi was a bit surprised. Later
on, Watanabe told them that they had lots of fan letters about the program and
since Kaede had recommended Kazuomi, he would be a permanent in the show.
Kazuomi was shocked because he thought he would appear in the show for one
episode only. It turned out that they were looking for Mahito’s replacement.
Ringo asked if she didn’t tell him about it. Kazuomi shouted that she
didn’t.
