32 – Last Christmas
Ringo found a
picture of a girl from Mahito’s organizer. Kazuomi went to her room and asked
why she is still inside when the director already called for her. He saw that
Ringo was holding a picture. Ringo was muttering that Mahito left it and she is
wondering who the girl was. Kazuomi grabbed the picture as he remembered hearing
before that Mahito had a girlfriend before in the United States and she looked
like Ringo. Kazuomi went out with the picture as Ringo was still puzzled who was
the girl in the picture who seemed to be very important for Mahito. Kazuomi went
out to the parking lot to confront Mahito about the picture.
Mahito told his
agent to wait for him for a while. The agent was about to protest then he felt
it must be something so he said that he told Mahito that he would just go call
someone. Kazuomi asked if the girl was his girlfriend when he still lived in the
United States. Kazuomi said that Mahito had told him that an actor’s face is
important so he better like Mahito’s explanation or he would punch him. Mahito
told him that she was his good friend and that he never meant to hurt Ringo.
Ringo came with Mahito’s organizer. Kazuomi wanted to hear the rest of his
explanation but Ringo asked for him let to let the two of them alone to talk.
Ringo was glad over his concern for her but it would be better if she was the
one would clarify things. Kazuomi went to the side as the two talked it out.
Mahito told her
that when he was in the United States, he had a hard time adjusting there since
he cannot speak English fluently. He had someone who helped him through it and
it was his childhood friend – the girl in the picture. Since they are close,
his parents had taken her picture. When he went to Japan, they had split up. The
first time he met Ringo, he was quite surprised because they looked alike and
Ringo was quite friendly. Ringo asked if Mahito liked her just because she
looked like the girl in the picture. Mahito said that it wasn’t so because
Ringo is Ringo and that is the reason why he liked her. Ringo was pleased with
his explanation and told him that she believed him. As the two made-up, Kazuomi
told himself that he would do anything just to see Ringo smile.
On Christmas
day, Ringo’s parents are sad that Ringo won’t spend Christmas with them.
Ringo apologized as she left her parents. She met Kazuomi who was going out.
Kazuomi was surprised that she is going out and asked if she would like to eat
the cake he made for this occasion. Ringo apologized because she had a date with
Mahito and that they will watch their drama special together. Ringo just told
him that she would come back to taste it and they leave a piece for her. As
Kazuomi left, he thought that it is good that Ringo is happy.
Ringo went to
Mahito’s apartment and she commented that it is very big. Mahito told her that
it is because there is very few furniture. Ringo had brought a Christmas cake
while Mahito is reheating a tomato and spinach quiche which corresponds to the
colors for Christmas. They enjoyed their dinner and watched the drama as Kazuomi
was all alone in his house since his mother went outside to eat. Suddenly, he
heard his mother shouting that she came home. He noticed that she was a bit
drunk. She told him that they have a visitor and it was Watanabe. Watanabe then
went down on his knees to ask something of Kazuomi as Kazuomi was all puzzled.
Meanwhile, Ringo
asked Mahito where to wash her hands. Mahito gave her directions and on her way
there, she noticed a lot of boxes at the side. Ringo asked Mahito about them and
if he is moving out already – he had just moved there just recently. Mahito
told her that he would be quitting Japan’s show business and he would return
to the United States. Ringo asked what about paying the debts that his parents
have and he couldn’t just forget about it. Mahito told her that his song for
her was sold in a million copies and that he finished paying off for the debts.
Ringo was glad for him.
Mahito told her of his dream of continuing his work in the United States. Ringo then thought that they wouldn’t meet again. Mahito suggested that she go with him to the United States to be with him. She can even study acting there, which was her dream of becoming a movie star. Ringo said that she wasn’t sure if she can leave her parents and that she doesn’t know how to speak English. Ringo was very confused. Mahito tried to comfort her by kissing her but she suddenly shouted that she doesn’t want to. Both of them were surprised.
Mahito
apologized that Ringo was surprised and that he still hope that she would go
with him. Ringo deep inside was thinking that she really like Mahito but why
can’t she kiss him.
When she arrived
home, she saw a notice on the door, which said that they are at Kazuomi’s
house. She was surprised to see that they are having a celebration and even
Watanabe was there. Her mother told Ringo that Watanabe and Kaede are getting
married. Ringo shouted with glee as she congratulates the two. Kazuomi called
her out to the balcony since the adults are a bit drunk. Ringo told him that it
is a very eventful night and Kazuomi’s feeling seemed to be a bit complicated.
Kazuomi told her that it is since ever since his father’s death, he never
thought of anyone as his father but Watanabe seemed to be a good man.
He thought that
it would be good for his mother to have a partner and they did thought about him
before deciding to get married. When his father died, her mother had a lot of
hardships raising him so he wanted her to be happy and he is sure that his
father would want that, too. Ringo teased that Kazuomi cannot leave without his
parents for he would be lonely. Kazuomi told her that it is the opposite for his
mother cannot leave him. Ringo asked when they will get married and Kazuomi said
that it would be next year.
Then, Kazuomi
told her that he had decided to live with Watanabe next month and that they
cannot hang around together like before. Ringo was caught off guard as she
thought that Kazuomi won’t be there anymore.
